English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a program for those whose native language is not English. This program is available to high school learners of the language, college students who want to improve their grades and communication skills as well as working professionals. It is entirely delivered in a digital classroom format and allows students to study at their own pace. We put emphasis on both synchronous and asynchronous learning to develop learner autonomy. Upon successful completion of a level, a student is awarded a certificate of completion and becomes eligible to move up to the next level.
Enrollment Procedure
The first step is to search for your desired course. Don’t worry about which level you need to take because the result of your placement test will determine your level of proficiency. Preview the syllabus and read the course description to get a clear understanding of the course content. Then, purchase the course using our secure, easy payment solutions on our website. You can pay using a debit or credit card even without a Paypal account. Please create an account after purchasing the course by choosing REGISTER from the main menu. The next time you visit our website, you can simply enter your username and password to log in to your account. You will then get an email confirming your enrollment and receipt for payment of the course. We will also inform you of the exact day and time for you to take the online placement test to determine your language level.

Are you eligible for this program?
Ideally, this program is for 13 years old or older regardless of your English proficiency level. Our curriculum is adaptable and contains lessons that are suitable to meet the language needs of every learner. A placement test is given before the start of class to determine your language level. The result of the placement test will show the weak language areas that you need to work on. Our student management system will automatically generate a learning plan indicating your strong and weak language areas. From there, we are going to design a customized learning plan that best works for you. We constantly provide continuous assessment, evaluation and feedback to make sure that there is progress in your learning to achieve your language goals.
Course Program
This General English course covers five language skills – listening, reading, writing, speaking and viewing. In viewing, we use visual arts to teach English. We are now living in a digital world that allows us to capture still images and animated videos with video- sharing platforms as well as social media networks. At DECLA Academy, we make use of web pages, videos and slideshows to implement a 21st century pedagogical approach to learning to meet the demands of the 21st century. In addition, our course covers key areas in grammar, pronunciation, spelling and punctuation.
Once enrolled, you will have access 24/7 to our online platform. It means that you can access the learning material anywhere and any time of the day. We encourage both synchronous and asynchronous learning to promote independent learning outside classroom hours. Our audio and video clips are supplementary materials to explain key concepts of the language. We also provide constant teacher support and feedback in addition to free speaking activities with a language coach.
Language Proficiency Levels
The course has six levels - beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced. Each level consists of 16 hours of actual, guided learning per month and additional 4 hours of student support and feedback. We encourage independent learning using our materials such as online exercise, readings, audio/ video clips, Internet resources, etc. These learning materials are designed to be appropriate to the proficiency level of the student. Each level lasts between two to five months depending on the progress of the student. It can be one-on-one tutoring lessons or small group class up to a maximum of only five students. This is done to ensure we deliver high quality education. In addition to our General English program, we also offer Business English and exam preparation training courses such as IELTS and TOEFL.
Tuition and Membership Fees
Our General English course has two different enrollment fees – regular fee for one-on-one private tutoring and membership fees with a discounted rate for small group classes. If you opt to go for a one-on-one tutoring, the price of regular fee is $240 per month. However, if you join a small group class, you become eligible to avail of our membership program (silver, gold or platinum plan) and you get a 21% discount. Our small group classes are limited to a maximum of only 5 students in a group to ensure we deliver high quality education. Contact our education consultant for further information.
